West coast riding part 2 - Insight from the others...
After expressing what I thought about sledding in my home turf,
I was curious as to what other locals in this area thought about
their home turf! Here are a couple of thoughts from local riders
and snowmobile guide owners on what they think about the
Whistler/Pemberton area..
I love riding in the coast range because of the amount and
consistency of the snow. It's rare to go a week without a full
reset of snow. It might not be the lightest driest snow but that
means it sticks to the mountains. This makes for all kinds of
terrain features like windlips and pillows that you wont't find
with drier snow. The mountains are built for snowmobiling, not too
steep and lots of benches. - Dan Treadway, Skidoo's ambassador
and Pro snowmobiler
I have ridden in CO, New Zealand, WY, ID, Revelstoke, MT and
AK but Whistler BC will always be my favourite. The Whistler area
gets SO much snow and the riding areas are HUGE (endless). We are
also blessed with having one of the safest snowpacks in the world
here...IT IS THE BEST PLACE to ride snowmobiles on the planet.

The diversity of terrain and the abundance of riders that
always wanna go ride no matter what! - Grant Clarke,
Slednecks pro snowmobiler
Its just the best snowmobile friendly terrain out there!
- Stephanie Sweezey, pro snowmobiler
The best snow, the safest snowpack, the best terrain and by
far the BEST PEOPLE!! - Tyler Blair, Slednecks pro
snowmobiler
Everyday is a totally different ride, for the most part mother
nature decides where and when you and your group of friends will
head out to find that perfect session spot then its up to you to
rip it. - Chris Connell, east coast rider that frequents this
area on a yearly basis
This place is one of my favourite places to shred for so many
factors , SNOW depth , natural terrain ultimate playground ,
vastness of mountains and the variety of areas to ride !! The
atmosphere of après shredding is second to none! - Stephanie
LaRoy Schwartz, Skidoo's ambassador
The costal mountains in the Whistler BC area has a really sick
variety of terrain and some of the sickest snow you can find on the
planet. I love that you can find new areas every time you ride and
there is always some sick spot to ride even if the weather is
bad. - Kalle KJ Johansson, Slednecks pro
snowmobiler
I used to do a lot of traveling to find snow but since I moved
to Whistler area four years ago, I do all my exploring right in my
backyard. That way you never miss a good day and there are endless
possibilities on where to go! There is always another valley behind
the next mountain top and always new terrain to find! We also get
so much snow here in the rainforest that there is no need to ever
leave... - Vera Janssen, pro snowboarder
Snowmobiling has become an addiction, the beauty of the
backcountry and the dynamics of interpreting terrain are so
compelling and completely unparalleled to any other sport.
Much like skiing and snowboarding is a lifestyle for many,
snowmobiling has become a way of life that drives our passionate to
explore and develop our skills in the backcountry. This year, we've
launched SnowRide Adventures, a guided instructional touring outfit
based in Pemberton, BC. SnowRide Adventures features guided
instruction from some of the most passionate, enthusiastic and
respected snowmobilers in the sport. For more information, please

Owner/Operator of SnowRide Adventures and filmer for
Slednecks
I don't think there is another spot in North Americas where
you can unload your sled at 700 ft and ride to a peak of a mountain
at 9500'. Where else but Pemberton can you ride powder all day long
and never see another set of tracks? There is a reason that so many
of the Sledneck riders call Pemberton home, it just the best place
to sled! - Ray Mason, owner/operator of Totally Awesome
Adventures, www.totallyawesomeadventures.com
